Itinerary

1. Morning

   Hotel or meeting-point pickup in Reykjavík, then out to Þingvellir National Park — about 45 minutes to walk the rift where the North American and Eurasian plates pull apart and the Alþing assembly met from 930 AD.

2. Midday

   On to the Geysir geothermal area for roughly an hour and twenty minutes, where Strokkur spouts 15–20 metres every few minutes, then a short hop to Gullfoss to see the glacial Hvítá river drop in two tiers into its canyon.

3. Afternoon

   A stop at the Kerið crater — a roughly 3,000-year-old volcanic caldera with a blue-green lake — with admission covered. A lunch stop where you can buy food is worked into this part of the day.

4. Late afternoon
